Red coral, or Moonga, is a vibrant organic gemstone formed in the deep sea by marine polyps. In Vedic astrology, it is the gemstone of Mars (Mangal), symbolizing energy, courage, and vitality.

• Origin: The most prized "ox-blood" red corals typically come from the Mediterranean (Italy) or Japan.

• Shapes: Commonly cut as cabochons in round, oval, or capsule shapes; the triangular shape (Lakshmi Moonga) is often considered most powerful for astrology.

How to Wear Red Coral

To activate the fiery energy of Mars, follow these traditional steps:

1. Metal: Best set in Gold, Copper, or Panchdhatu (five-metal alloy).

2. Finger: Wear it on the ring finger of your dominant/working hand.

3. Weight: Generally recommended as 1/12th of your body weight (e.g., 5 carats for a 60 kg person).

4. Day & Time: Tuesday morning during the Shukla Paksha (waxing moon), preferably within the first hour after sunrise.

5. Purification: Before wearing, immerse the ring for 15–30 minutes in: Raw cow's milk, Ganga water (or clean water if unavailable), Honey. Kumkum (optional). Rinse with clean water afterwards.

6. Worship: Place the ring before an idol or image of Lord Hanuman or Lord Kartikeya (Skanda), and seek the blessings of Mars (Mangal). Offer: Red flowers, Kumkum, Incense, Ghee lamp, Jaggery or red lentils (Masoor Dal) as an offering.
